The New Build

A three storey house built in rural Dorset.

Electrically, as well as Part P, it was necessary to consider building regulations Part M (access) which defines heights of sockets and switches and Part L which requires the consideration of Energy Efficient Lighting.

As it is a new build the electrics were defined by BS7671 17th Edition 2008. Due to the construction of this particular house all electrical circuits needed to be protected by a RCDs (Residual Current Device).
The House is heated and hot water supplied by a Worcester Bosch ground source heat pump which in turn is controlled by Poly Plumb Thermostats and Master Control Unit.
A Hager Consumer Unit was fitted and the circuits divided to ensure that if any circuit tripped lighting would still be available in other areas of the house.

Crabtree accessories such as light switches and sockets were fitted throughout the house.

Alco Smoke Alarms were fitted to the optimum regulation Grade D LD1 i.e. Mains Powered Interconnected Alarms with integral stand-by power, in all habitable rooms (apart from the bathroom and toilets).
